
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – A New York man has been charged with counterfeiting tickets after attempting to return items at an AutoZone store that were purchased with play money at another AutoZone location, according to the police department. of Hackettstown.
Kendel T. Sabal, 28, of New York City, has been charged with possession of counterfeit tickets, driving without a license and having an expired vehicle registration following an incident Thursday, Hackettstown police said Monday.
Sabal was released after being charged. It is unclear whether bail has been set. He is expected to reappear in court on an unspecified date, police spokesman Darren Tynan said.

Hackettstown Police learned from Washington Township Police in Warren County around 7 p.m. Thursday that a man had left a store there and was driving on Route 57 toward Hackettstown, Tynan said.
Washington Township police say the man purchased items at the AutoZone in Allentown, Pa., using counterfeit money, then attempted to purchase products from AutoZone stores in Lopatcong and the Washington Township also with counterfeit notes, Tynan said.

When Hackettstown police arrived at the Hackettstown store, they found Sabal with $500 in counterfeit money, Tynan said.
