The Santini Colore Pure Men’s Long Sleeve Jersey is beautiful, incredibly warm and breathable, although the arms are a bit tight and a pocket for valuables is missing.
Colore Pure can be worn either as an outer layer on warmer days or as a mid layer on colder rides. I used it as an outer layer up to around 8 ° C and as a middle layer down to almost zero.

Its strengths in cold weather come from its fleece-lined sleeves and its warm thermo-fleece torso, which retains heat well while being breathable and evacuating excess hot and humid air.
The choice of materials throughout the jersey is generally impressive, with different areas using significantly different materials. The shinier fabric on the sleeves, for example, offers a bit more wind protection (although it’s not windproof) while the torso is almost as soft as cotton and offers more stretch.
Breathability and moisture wicking are good for a winter jersey – I didn’t find myself overheating or sweating excessively while wearing it, even when used as a midlayer. As an outer layer, it also kept my temperature well regulated and its ability to dry quickly kept me warm and dry as well.
Santini has included a few useful features including a reflective dot stripe in the center back, as well as two pull tabs on either side of the back pockets and a small reflective Santini logo on the front of the jersey. One thing I particularly like about the reflective dot stripe is that at night they glow clearly, but during the day they are subtle enough that you barely notice them unless you are looking for them. really.
I think it’s a beautiful jersey, with the different materials between the torso and arms making a nice feature, and the subtle branding combined with minimal panels gives it a clean cut and classic design.
The fit is generally good too, especially with the amount of stretch in the torso meaning it can fit most body shapes and sizes. The only thing that’s a little annoying is that the sleeves are quite tight, so wearing cuffs or a thicker base layer underneath is a bit tight. There is still a fair amount of elasticity in the fabric, but certainly not as much as in the torso.
The good quality full length zipper has a nice large pull tab that is easy to find and use with full gloves, handy to quickly release any excess heat accumulated during a climb or heavy exertion.
On the back there are three good-sized pockets providing ample space for all your driving essentials. I have done several rides where I ended up removing the gloves and outer layers and putting them in those pockets without wishing for more storage space. It would be nice to have a zippered pocket for valuables, however.
Silicone clips around the bottom edge of the jersey keep everything in place whether or not there is weight in the pockets.
The jersey is priced at £ 99, although if you shop around you can find it for around 30% less. This is pretty much what I would expect from a jersey of this quality, considering the technical characteristics of the fabric combined with the fit and style. The Shutt VR Tourmalet jersey that Stu recently tested costs £ 120 RRP and also doesn’t have a valuables pocket, despite being made with recycled materials.

That’s £ 20 more than the Altura Endurance long sleeve jersey Shaun reviewed recently, which offers rain protection (if not a lot), although the Colore appears to be better insulated.

Overall I was impressed with this jersey. It is elegant, warm and breathable. The sleeves could be a bit wider to allow for base layers or thicker cuffs, and I’d love a zippered pocket for valuables, but other than that there’s very little to dislike.
Nice warm and comfortable jersey for cool and cold conditions
