Roy Keane remained “quite emotional” after his mother found his old gaming shirt in his Cork attic.
Keane travels to Cork regularly and it was revealed that he had taken a trip to the past and recently remembered his time in Nottingham Forest where he spent three seasons.
In an interview with former BBC Radio Nottingham reporter Robin Chipperfield, the ITV presenter spoke of a personal conversation with Keane where he discussed his time with Nottingham Forest and his experiences there.
Keane appeared more than 100 times in the Garibaldi between 1990 and 1993 before eventually moving to Manchester United.
Pougatch said: “He loves Forest. He was telling me the other day that he came home to Cork and his mother took a bunch of stuff out of the loft.

“There were a few medals and first shirts, and among them was her Forest Cup final jersey. He told me he was almost quite moved that she still had her Forest Cup final jersey. “
Pougatch added: “Roy also told me that his three years at West Bridgford were among the best three years of his life. West Bridgford is a great place, I have been there myself a lot.
“But he told me that in Forest’s time he would play the game and then go to the Trent Bridge Inn.
“He said it was a lot of fun. It was back in the early 90s when players and fans could meet and TBI was just a corner kick from the City Ground.
“He’s still talking fondly about his time at Forest. He played for Brian Clough, which was just… wow. It’s just something else.”
