Over the past three years, I’ve tested a wide range of skincare brands, including Indie Lee, Cannuka, Cane + Austin, Eczema Honey Co., Boscia, Bulldog Skincare, and Jack Black. None of those made the cut for one reason or another. The six brands featured here will benefit you because of their commitment to producing quality products while avoiding a plethora of skin irritants.
From formulation to price, each line differs from the other, so there’s something for everyone based on your specific skincare needs and budget. You can’t go wrong with any of the brands below; however, we named Drunk Elephant™ and 100% Pure® as grand supreme this year. These two brands allowed me to test more than half of their inventory. The results were unmatched, with little to no reaction.
WINNER: 100% Pure®
The word “natural” is used extremely misleadingly in the skin care industry. However, 100% Pure guarantees that natural is synonymous with the highest quality by defining natural as meaning “An ingredient or formula composed of plants, minerals and/or marine vegetation that undergoes chemical changes due to biological processes. such as fermentation, distillation, and cold processing. This involves ensuring that all formulations adhere to strict purity standards in which toxic and harsh ingredients are never used, ensuring that each ingredient is not is never animal-based, to be certified cruelty-free by never testing on animals, and to source pigments from fruits, vegetables, tea, and cocoa to avoid FD&C dyes and heavy metal dyes.
The lengths that 100% Pure has gone to in producing skincare products that live up to their name are admirable and frankly second to none. There has been a dramatic increase in asthma, allergies, eczema, psoriasis and related skin problems in recent years. Scent is a major trigger for all of the above due to the abundance of chemicals they contain, none of which should be absorbed by your skin. 100% Pure never includes synthetic chemicals, chemical preservatives, artificial fragrances, artificial colors, harsh detergents or any other unhealthy toxins in their formulations. Additionally, 100% Pure is unique in that it works with a food flavoring company to capture and isolate food flavors. This allows skin care products to be scented without causing a reaction – a near-miraculous feature that other skin care brands absolutely don’t. Finally, even the packaging is conscientious as 100% Pure ships orders in recyclable shipping boxes and protects products from damage with biodegradable cornstarch-based packaging peanuts that also dissolve in water. water. Well done!

WINNER: Drunken Elephant™
Drunk Elephant was in the hot seat for its recent handling of consumer complaints. The company said the reactions customers complain about are most likely associated with using non-DE products in their regimen due to the fact that DE products are impeccably formulated and produced. Nevertheless, one of the main problems of today’s society is this new ideology according to which a controversial opinion = abortion. Let’s cancel Drunk Elephant now! ? Out of over a dozen skincare brands we tested, this line showed results and improved skin the fastest. No doubt this is due to several factors, including DE’s philosophy of avoiding the Suspicious 6, “When the #Suspicious6 is fully removed from its routine, skin can reset and return to a healthy, balanced state. .”

The Suspicious 6 includes essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances and dyes, and SLS. None of these belong to good skincare formulations. But you’ll find them in most lines on the shelves today. Plus, Drunk Elephant is essentially medical grade skincare because it uses the highest percentages of actives in its formulations.
First Aid Beauty®
First Aid Beauty (FAB) has become a bestseller at Sephora and Ulta for a variety of reasons. The brand is dermatologist tested, cruelty-free and committed to clean ingredients by striving to avoid over 1,300 ingredients including parabens, ethanol, phthalates, mineral oil, petroleum jelly, formaldehyde, oxybenzone, sulphates, various alcohols, etc.
The brand’s bestsellers are all products that have been hailed for their ability to reduce eczema, keratosis pilaris, chronic itching and dry skin. These items, including Ultra Repair Cream and KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub, are the height of fashion. In fact, Ultra Repair Cream was more effective at treating eczema than any product we tested from brands that treat eczema – ala Eczema Honey Co.
The FAB bearing range is like magic. The Facial Radiance pads do an excellent job of brightening and exfoliating. FAB Pharma compresses, made of white clay and 2% salicylic acid, are ideal when a pimple appears. The latest line of pads, Ingrown Hair Pads, are made with BHAs and AHAs, which fight ingrown hairs immediately and are the perfect “go-to” for razor irritation. With this brand, it is the secondary products that are the gold mine more than the standard skincare products.

Honest®
An amazing story in itself. A billion-dollar empire built by actress-turned-healthy-lifestyle mogul Jessica Alba, Honest has grown exponentially year after year. 2022 marks the tenth anniversary of Honnête. It is a brand that produces baby diapers, household cleaning products, bath and body products and, of course, skin care. The motto, “clean beauty that works,” lives up to the title as the company has a NO™ List with over 2,5000 chemicals and materials it chooses not to use.
Although each line is specifically tailored to each skin type, which means you can react if your skin doesn’t line up with the line, the best line this brand has to offer is their latest collection, The Calm Collection. This line is accepted by the National Eczema Association and is designed for sensitive skin. Additionally, the line is free of parabens, phthalates, preservatives, dyes, and fragrances of any kind. This is important to note as other Honest lines may include natural fragrances. This line also features a calming liquid-strengthening Phyto-blemd™ and liquid crystal moisturizing seal, marine-derived amino acids and pro-vitamin B5.

NEOVA® SmartSkincare
Neova SmartSkincare is a New Jersey-based brand that produces medical-grade skin and hair care. The brand focuses primarily on anti-aging and produces some of the most innovative items in the skincare industry. With an emphasis on science and research, Neova focuses on reversing photodamage and photoaging for every skin type. Additionally, for the first time, a brand has demonstrated that it can treat, prevent and repair photo-damaged skin.
Neova Skincare obtained numerous patent protections for its various formulas in 2016. The brand has conducted numerous clinical studies coupled with dermatological and ophthalmological tests and without any animal testing. The Herbal Wash with Botanical Essence is one of the most quality-focused cleansers on the market. DNA Total Repair is one of the best serums on the market. The brand also produces various sunscreens, all of which are unmatched by the competition.

ACURE®
Acure is the answer you’ve been looking for when it comes to quality beauty on a budget. The brand is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and free of parabens, sulfates, petroleum jelly, formaldehyde, and mineral oil. Acure together infuses the perfect combination of super nutrients to help every skin type.
There are products and ranges for hair, skin and body. The face masks, shower gel, body lotions and deodorant are all of exceptional quality, especially at this price point. The Incredibly Clear line does an amazing job of fighting acne, pimples and helping to create clear skin. However, if you’re sensitive to scents of any kind, it’s best to stick with the Seriously Soothing line, which is probably Acure’s best line right now.
