PRINCETON, NJ —YWCA Princeton will host the 17th annual ETS Firecracker 5K June 1-15. Held in conjunction with Educational Testing Service (ETS), all proceeds from the 5k support YWCA Princeton’s mission to eliminate racism and empower women, and its programs and resources for women and families in Mercer County. .
The 5K will take place virtually over a two-week period where walkers, runners and rollerbladers can participate at their own pace. Social and corporate teams are also welcome.
The ETS Firecracker 5K was first created to support the bilingual preschool at YWCA Princeton. Today, the event lends broad support to the organization’s programs.
“ETS has been an integral community partner of ours since the 1960s, when they helped us establish the Pearl Bates Scholarship Fund to honor the legacy of Pearl Bates, ETS staff member and volunteer dedicated YW,” YWCA Princeton CEO Tay Walker said in a statement. “For decades we have worked together to promote equity and create opportunity through education, and we are fortunate to have their continued support through this annual event.”
“We are delighted to continue our longstanding partnership with the YWCA,” said Jamal Watson, Senior Director of the Center for Advocacy and Philanthropy at ETS. “We are thrilled to once again support the Firecracker 5K which will support women and families in the Mercer County area.”
Registration is open, for a fee of $50. Registrants are also invited to participate in fundraising. Attendees will be able to pick up event t-shirts at the YWCA Princeton, and prizes will be awarded to runners with the fastest pace, longest distance, as well as the best individual and team fundraiser.
